BJP plans to celebrate Congress' veteran Kamaraj's birthday

Madurai, Jul 11: Minister of State for Shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan today said the BJP will celebrate the birthday of Congress leader K Kamaraj in Tamil Nadu.

BJP President Amit Shah would visit Madurai to participate in the birthday celebrations of Kamaraj, he said here.

"Though Kamaraj belonged to a different party, he was a great man and a freedom fighter and a leader of national stature and there is nothing wrong in remembering him," he said.

He justified the party celebrating Kamaraj's birthday, saying BJP wanted to tell people about the greatness of leaders like Kamaraj and his cabinet colleague Kakkan, who were known for their simplicity and honesty. Kamaraj's birthday falls on July 15.
