BJP pins hopes on old guard for victory in Chhattisgarh assembly elections

The opposition BJP has given tickets to 11 sitting MLAs and renominated 13 leaders who lost in the 2018 polls, as it releases its second list of candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh assembly elections.

In the run-up to the forthcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), currently serving as the opposition party, has announced its candidate list. The party appears to be banking on experienced politicians, with 11 current MLAs and 13 leaders who lost out in the previous 2018 polls being given tickets.

Second List of Candidates Released

BJP Chhattisgarh assembly elections

The BJP released its second roster of candidates for 64 assembly seats just hours after the Election Commission declared polling dates for Chhattisgarh along with four other states. This strategic move comes as part of their preparation for a two-phase polling that is set to take place on November 7 and November 17 respectively. These two rounds will decide representatives for a total of 90 seats in Chhattisgarh's new assembly.

Key Nominations and Strategy

A significant feature in this election strategy is BJP's faith vested in their seasoned politicians. Former chief minister Raman Singh has been chosen to contest from his traditional Rajnandgaon seat while Narayan Prasad Chandel, Leader of Opposition in the assembly, has been re-nominated from his present Janjir-Champa seat. With these nominations, it seems evident that BJP aims at leveraging their experience and influence among voters.

Adding diversity to its candidate pool, popular Chattisgarhi film star Anuj Sharma - a recent addition to BJP - has been fielded from Dharsiwa located within Raipur district. Furthermore, Ishwar Sahu also finds mention in this list; he hails from Biranpur village situated within Bemetara district where his son was tragically killed during communal clashes earlier this year.

Candidate Selections Yet To Be Finalized

The saffron party has, till now, declared candidates for 85 seats with nominations for five more yet to be announced. This suggests that the BJP is very close to finalizing its complete list of representatives for the upcoming Chhattisgarh assembly elections.

Denial of Tickets

While most selections have been indicative of strategic planning and thoughtful consideration, it's worth noting that the main opposition party has denied tickets to certain members. The reasons behind these denials remain undisclosed but indicate a careful selection process undertaken by the BJP in order to ensure their victory in this election.

In conclusion, as Chhattisgarh gears up for assembly elections next month, political parties are meticulously strategizing and fielding their best candidates. The BJP’s decision to rely on experienced politicians along with some fresh faces could potentially sway voter sentiment in their favor. However, only time will tell whether this strategy will lead them towards victory or not.
