BJP MP Arun Govil Gifts ‘Ramayan’ To Meerut Murder Accused Muskan And Sahil: Report
Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil Shukla, accused in the brutal murder of Muskan's husband, Saurabh Rajput, met Meerut MP Arun Govil in jail. Though Govil did not have direct conversations with any inmates, he later told the media that both Muskan and Sahil became 'emotional' upon meeting him.
Arun Govil, best known for portraying Lord Ram in the iconic 1980s TV series, visited Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail on Sunday as part of his Ghar Ghar Ramayan initiative. During his visit, the BJP leader distributed 1,500 copies of the Ramayan to inmates.

Speaking about the event, Govil emphasized the transformative power of the epic's teachings. "The inmates showed great reverence for the Ramayan. If even a small portion of its wisdom is followed, it can bring positivity to society. Simply distributing the Ramayan isn't enough; we must incorporate its values into daily life. Even if we embrace just 10 percent of its teachings, we can create positive change," he told NDTV.
The Ghar Ghar Ramayan campaign, spearheaded by Govil in his Meerut-Hapur Lok Sabha constituency, aims to distribute 11 lakh copies of the Ramayan across India. Since the campaign's launch a month and a half ago, over 11,000 copies have already been distributed in the region.
The Gruesome Meerut Murder Case
Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla stand accused of the shocking murder of Muskan's husband, Saurabh Rajput, a merchant navy officer. The crime, committed on March 4, involved brutally killing Rajput, dismembering his body, and concealing the remains in a blue drum filled with sand and cement. The duo was arrested nearly two weeks later and has been in judicial custody since.
During their court appearance following their arrest, both Muskan and Sahil were attacked by enraged lawyers.
According to the police investigation, Muskan allegedly masterminded the murder and manipulated Sahil into assisting her, even going as far as impersonating his deceased mother on social media. Officials revealed that Muskan was desperate to escape her marriage with Saurabh, whom she wed in 2016 and shared a six-year-old daughter with, in order to start a new life with Sahil.
Her parents have publicly disowned her, deeming her "unfit for society" and calling for the death penalty for both her and Sahil.
Jail officials, as reported by PTI, stated that the accused have been suffering from severe drug withdrawal symptoms. Initially, they experienced extreme restlessness, insomnia, and loss of appetite while in custody.
