BJP Manifesto 2024: What's In Store For Senior Citizens?

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) manifesto, Sankalp Patra, for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, released on Sunday, pledges to extend the coverage of the Ayushman Yojana to all senior citizens and transgender individuals.

"We have provided quality free health treatment of up to ₹5 lakh to poor families under Ayushman Bharat. We will continue to provide free health treatment by strengthening Ayushman Bharat and other such initiatives. We will expand the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to cover Senior Citizens and provide them access to free and quality healthcare," states the manifesto.

National Senior Citizens portal

In addition to healthcare, the BJP plans to introduce a National Senior Citizens portal to facilitate knowledge sharing among the elderly. This platform will allow seniors to share their stories, insights, and knowledge, honoring their wisdom and experience.

The manifesto also emphasizes delivering government services directly to the doorsteps of senior citizens. The BJP aims to ensure seamless access to social security benefits and other essential services through the extensive reach and reliability of the postal and digital network.

Training for senior citizens in using UPI

Digital empowerment is another focus area, with the party pledging comprehensive training for senior citizens in using UPI and other online payment methods. The goal is to educate seniors on recognizing and avoiding digital scams, enhancing their digital literacy and security.

Ayush camps

To promote holistic healthcare, the BJP plans to organize regular Ayush camps rooted in Ayurveda, Yoga, and other traditional practices. These camps aim to promote active living and vitality among senior citizens.

Infrastructure improvements are also on the agenda, with the BJP committing to implement age-friendly public infrastructure and transportation systems. These enhancements are designed to facilitate mobility and independence for senior citizens.

Lastly, the BJP aims to facilitate convenient sacred pilgrimages for senior citizens by working with state governments to ensure adequate facilities. This initiative aims to enable seniors to undertake pilgrimages across the country with ease.
