BJP's Vision For Space: Gaganyaan, BAS And Global Leadership In Space Technology
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released ambitious plans for the space sector in its 2024 Lok Sabha election manifesto, Sankalp Patra. The manifesto outlines a vision to position India as a leading space power, emphasizing the country's progress and prosperity in the field.
One of the key highlights of the manifesto is the commitment to launch Gaganyaan, India's first human spaceflight mission, and land an astronaut on the Moon during the auspicious Amrit Kaal. This mission is seen as a significant milestone in India's space exploration journey.

The BJP also aims to establish the Bharatiya Antariksha Station (BAS) and operationalize a second launch complex, enhancing India's space infrastructure. These initiatives are expected to significantly boost the value of the Space Economy, positioning India as a leader in the global space arena.
To support these efforts, the BJP plans to set up a Global Space Academy under the aegis of ISRO and IIST. This academy will offer fellowship programs for both national and international students, further enhancing India's capabilities in space technology.
In addition to its space ambitions, the BJP manifesto also focuses on strengthening research and development infrastructure across the country. The party plans to operationalize the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, aimed at promoting scientific research and innovation.
The BJP has also committed to establishing an Anusandhan Fund with an investment of ₹1 lakh crore to provide loans for scientific research. This fund is expected to catalyze innovation and propel India towards global leadership in science and technology.
The party's manifesto also highlights plans to drive AI innovation through the IndiaAI mission, develop Graphene-based technology programs, and operationalize the National Quantum Mission to lead in quantum technology.
Furthermore, the BJP aims to achieve geospatial data excellence by creating a national geospatial data registry and exchange, enabling industries and startups to develop innovative products and services.
The manifesto also includes plans to establish science parks in various cities to foster scientific inquiry among India's youth. Additionally, the BJP plans to launch a National Atmospheric Mission called Mausam, aimed at making India "weather ready" and "climate smart."
Overall, the BJP's Sankalp Patra for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections lays out a comprehensive roadmap to propel India to new heights in the space sector and scientific research, signaling the party's commitment to technological advancement and innovation.
