BJP Releases 1st List Of Candidates For Lok Sabha Elections 2024; PM Modi To Contest From Varanasi
BJP Candidates List: For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday shared the first list of candidates. As per the announcement, the BJP shared 195 names including Prime Minister, 4 Union Ministers, 2 former Chief Ministers, 1 Lok Sabha in charge from 16 states, and 2 Union Territories.
As per the announcement by BJP's top leadership, the saffron front has picked 28 women, 27 Schedule Caste, 18 Schedule Tribe, and 57 OBC candidates.

BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde announced that PM Narendra Modi will contest Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi, Union Home Minster Amit Shah to contest from Gandhinagar, Health Minister Mansukhbhai Mandaviya to contest from Porbandar in Gujarat, Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiran Rijiju will contest from Arunachal West, BJP MP Bishnu Pada Ray to contest from Andaman & Nicobar, BJP MP Tapir Gao to contest from Arunachal East, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to contest from Dibrugarh this year.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan to contest from Vidhisha, Jyotiraditya Scindia to contest from Guna in Madhya Pradesh.

The Lok Sabha elections are expected to be held in April-May.
Earlier on Thursday, a key meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CEC meeting was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Goa CM Pramod Sawant.
Earlier today, Members of Parliament Gautam Gambhir and Jayant Sinha announced on Twitter that they don't want to contest elections this time.
Notably, the saffron front is eyeing to win more than 400 seats this time, while Congress is looking forward to dethrone PM Modi and get back in power.
