BJP leader shot dead in Ghaziabad

The BJP leader has been identified as Gajendra Bhati.

A BJP leader was shot dead by unidentified men in broad daylight on Saturday in Ghaziabad's Khora Colony. Also, his friend was wounded in the attack. The BJP leader has been identified as Gajendra Bhati.

After the attack, the assailants fled the spot and locals rushed Bhati and Balbir to Max and Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital respectively. Bhati was declared brought dead while Balbir was admitted to the ICU and battling with life, reports News nation.

As per ANI reports, Police has reached the site where the BJP leader was killed. On receiving information about the incident, Bhati's supporters reached the hospital in large number, City Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh said. Heavy police force has been deployed outside the hospital to prevent any untoward incident, the City SP said.

An investigation is underway in the matter, he added.

This year another BJP leader Ikhlaq Qureshi was shot dead, whereas three BJP leaders namely Jameela Bi, Sachin Shilke, and Ashok Jaiswal were shot dead last year.

The BJP leader's death comes just two days after Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the law and order situation in the in the city.
