BJP's Lallu Singh Leaves Press Meet, Cites Mafia Presence
BJP leader and former Faizabad MP Lallu Singh abruptly left a press conference on Thursday, citing the presence of mafia elements on stage. "I cannot sit with the mafia," Singh declared as he exited the event organised by the BJP state leadership in Ayodhya. He refrained from naming anyone directly but pointed towards BJP leader Shivendra Singh.

Allegations and Background
Lallu Singh accused mafia elements of being present, prompting his departure. "Mafia was present on the stage, and I can never associate myself with such elements. I have consistently fought against the mafia, as they exploit and oppress society," Singh told reporters. The press conference was convened by BJP state general secretary Sanjay Rai at the Ayodhya circuit house regarding a membership drive.
Shivendra Singh has a controversial past, having been booked under attempt to murder and the Gangster Act. In 2018, he was lodged in Faizabad jail before being transferred to Barabanki Jail. Despite these allegations, Shivendra Singh remains a prominent figure within the party.
Political Reactions
BJP Ayodhya spokesperson Rajneesh Singh defended Lallu Singh's actions, stating that he has always adhered to political decorum throughout his career. "He has consistently distanced himself from criminals in his political endeavours, never aligning with them," Rajneesh Singh added.
In contrast, Shivendra Singh commented on Lallu Singh's political history, saying, "Former MP Lallu Singh personally campaigned throughout his entire election alongside notorious criminals and hardened history-sheeters, which ultimately led to his downfall in the election." This statement highlights the internal conflicts within the party regarding associations with criminal elements.
Election Outcome
Lallu Singh lost the Faizabad seat to Samajwadi Party's Awdhesh Prasad in the Lok Sabha elections. This defeat has been attributed to various factors, including his alleged associations during his campaign. The incident at the press conference further underscores the ongoing tensions within the BJP regarding its stance on criminal affiliations.
The abrupt exit of Lallu Singh from the press conference has raised questions about internal party dynamics and its approach towards members with controversial backgrounds. As this story unfolds, it remains to be seen how these allegations will impact the party's image and future political strategies.
