BJP Government Urged to Resolve Farmers' Demands and End Dallewal's Critical Fast

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed concern over the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for 39 days, is protesting at the Khanauri site. Hooda urged the central government to address the farmers' demands promptly, criticising its inflexible stance.

Hooda Calls for Action on Dallewals Fast

Dallewal's health has worsened due to his refusal to accept medical assistance during his prolonged fast. Hooda emphasised that Dallewal's life holds immense value for everyone. "He is not fasting for personal interest but for the legitimate demands of the farmers," stated Hooda.

Farmers' Demands and Government Promises

The farmers' demands include a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP), which Hooda described as entirely justified and longstanding. He pointed out that the BJP had previously ended a farmer movement by promising MSP, and now farmers are reminding the government of this commitment.

Hooda highlighted that the Congress has consistently supported providing MSP to farmers based on the Swaminathan formula. He criticised the BJP for failing to fulfil its promise of doubling farmers' income after coming to power, instead increasing their costs significantly.

Political Stance on Farmers' Issues

According to Hooda, apart from Congress, no other political party genuinely considers farmers' interests. "They only do politics in the name of farmers," he remarked. The ongoing protest involves farmers under Samyukta Kisan Morcha Non-Political and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha banners.

These groups have been stationed at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 last year. Their march to Delhi was halted by security forces, leading them to continue their protest at these locations.

The situation underscores the ongoing tension between farmers and the government over agricultural policies. Resolving these issues remains crucial for both parties involved.
