M K Stalin Critiques BJP Government for Failing to Conduct Single-Phase Elections in Kashmir
M K Stalin, the DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, criticised the BJP-led central government for pushing the "one nation, one election" idea. He pointed out that the government couldn't even manage a single-phase election in Kashmir. The region is currently undergoing its first assembly election in ten years, requiring three phases to elect 90 members.

Stalin questioned the BJP's capability, saying, "Those who cannot even conduct the election in one phase are talking about one nation, one election. It's like one who can’t climb the roof to catch chicken but shows the path to others. Are you not ashamed to talk about one nation, one election?" He made these remarks during a DMK meeting in Kancheepuram celebrating the party's 75th anniversary.
Political Dynamics and Alliances
The DMK leader highlighted that the BJP lacks an absolute majority in Parliament, holding only 240 MPs. He warned them to be cautious as his party is ready to seize any opportunity. Stalin claimed that the successful alliance led by DMK in Tamil Nadu inspired the formation of a national coalition aimed at removing BJP from power.
Stalin emphasised that their allies are integral to the Dravidian movement and are treated as friends. He noted their ideological unity against fascist and communal forces. He recalled their significant victories in both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections as evidence of their strong alliance.
Criticism of BJP's Strategies
Stalin accused the BJP of spreading misinformation against DMK and its allies to weaken their coalition. However, he asserted that such attempts would not succeed. He criticised some electoral alliances formed by BJP for being short-lived and focused solely on elections.
The Chief Minister remarked that unlike other alliances, theirs is built on genuine unity. He accused political opponents of being envious of this unity and spreading falsehoods for temporary satisfaction. Stalin assured that these tactics would not be effective against their coalition.
Stalin's comments reflect his confidence in his party's strength and its alliances. His criticism of the BJP's strategies highlights ongoing political tensions. The DMK leader remains firm in his stance against what he perceives as divisive tactics by his political adversaries.
