BJP gives JD(S)-Congress combine 3 months time

The BJP is unlikely to make any moves in a bid to topple the Congress-JD(S) government. The BJP feels that the coalition will anyway collapse in a few months time and hence it is its best interest that it does not meddle with the government.

The BJP has given the new coalition a maximum of three months. There are too many problems and the coalition is not a natural one says a BJP leader. Over a period of time there would be a fight within the two parties over the domination among the Vokkaligas and also the ministries. As pointed out, the alliance is an unholy one, the leader also said.

For now the entire focus of the party would be to win the Jayanagar and RR Nagar elections. The party is desperate the win the polls in these two constituencies so that it could better its number. The party currently has 104 MLAs and is short by 8 in the existing 222 member house.

The party will also field a strong candidate in Channapatna to take on the JD(S). This was the second seat other than Ramanagara which Kumaraswamy had won and he would vacate this seat.

Until these elections are completed, the BJP would play the wait and watch game. There are several reports already about discontentment in the Congress-JD(S) ranks over the allocation of portfolios. The BJP feels that these issues would be under the wraps for now, but would boomerang over a period of time. Until such time, the party would not make any move, BJP sources said.

Adding to this, Union Minister, Sadananda Gowda said that the coalition is bound to fall sooner or later. There are too many contradictions and differences between the coalition partners and hence it would fall soon, he also added.
