On BJP foundation day, PM stresses on ridding India of graft, nepotism
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to rid India of corruption, nepotism, law and order challenges while addressing his party workers on the 43rd foundation day.

"Today, India is realising its potential just like the power of Lord Hanuman. The BJP party gets inspiration from Lord Hanuman to fight corruption, law and order. If we see the whole life of lord Hanuman, he had a "can do" attitude that helped him in bringing all kinds of success," the prime minister said.
"BJP is a party that works on the principle of 'nation first'. We are fully committed to mother India, the people of India, and India's Constitution. Today, BJP has become a synonym of growth and faith," PM Modi said.
"Congress and other such parties have a culture of 'parivarvaad, vanshvaad, jaativaad, shetravaad, while BJP has a political culture of taking all sections of society along," he added.
Mapping the BJP's growth, PM Modi said, "BHAJAPA has taken birth from the womb of Democracy, has been nourished and nurtured with the 'Amrit' of the Democracy, and has been deeply consecrated to strengthen the Constitution and Democracy!."
"'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' has been the Mantra and goal for the Bharatiya Janata Party. When Jan Sangh was born, we had neither much political experience nor enough resources. All we had was 'Maatr Bhumi Ki Bhakti' and 'Lok Tantra Ki Shakti', the 'Devotion for the Motherland' and 'Power of the Democracy'," he said.
"We, since the very beginning, have deep faith in the intellect and values of the people of a country, which is herself the 'Mother of Democracy. This faith has been strengthening more and more, day by day," he added.
Stepping up his attack on Opposition, PM Modi said they (Opposition) cannot digest the work the BJP is doing.
"What happened in 2014 was not a mere change of guard in India. But India heralded a new age coming out of the centuries of slavery. The British left the country in 1947, but left the mentality of slavery in some people. They nurture a baadshahi mentality and consider the people of the country as their 'ghulam'," PM Modi said.
"When I talked about Swachh Bharat, these baadshahi-mentality people criticised me. They made fun and questioned my idea of 'digital India'. They did not even think that Article 370 will be a thing of the past. They could not digest how BJP achieved those things which they could not do for years. And now they are just spreading lies," PM Modi said.
"Today, they have become so desperate that they have openly started saying 'Modi teri kabar khudegi'," PM Modi said.
