BJP Convenes to Select Candidates for Haryana Assembly Elections
The BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) convened on Thursday evening to finalise candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP president J P Nadda were among the key members who discussed the potential nominees.

Earlier in the day, senior BJP leaders, including Shah, Pradhan, and Khattar, gathered at Nadda's residence for an extensive discussion on candidate names forwarded from the state. Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli also attended this core group meeting.
Key Leaders Deliberate
Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, who oversees elections in Haryana, and Manohar Lal Khattar, along with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, participated in the CEC meeting. This session at the BJP headquarters lasted over two hours.
Before this, Pradhan had a separate meeting with Haryana BJP leaders at his residence. Following the core group meeting, senior party leader and former Haryana home minister Anil Vij stated that the state's political scenario was presented to the central team.
Upcoming Elections
The 90-member Haryana Assembly will hold elections on October 1, with vote counting set for October 4. In the previous assembly polls, the BJP emerged as the largest party and formed a coalition government with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). However, this alliance dissolved earlier this year before the Lok Sabha elections.
In those Lok Sabha elections, both the BJP and Congress secured five seats each out of Haryana's ten seats. "Our party is a democratic party...Now the Central Election Committee will take a final call on the probable candidates for assembly polls," Vij told reporters.
