BJP Files Complaints Against Rahul Gandhi Over Reservation Comments

In a significant political clash, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged several complaints against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his comments on reservations in the United States. The complaints were submitted at Punjabi Bagh, Tilak Nagar, and Parliament Street police stations. The BJP's Scheduled Caste (SC) unit, Mohan Lal Gihara, along with BJP Sikh cell's Charanjit Singh Lovely and ST wing's CL Meena, were the ones who brought forward these grievances. They objected to Gandhi's remarks concerning the reservation policies for SC, ST, and OBC communities.

The complaints detailed accusations against Gandhi for allegedly making "divisive and provocative" comments that could threaten India's unity, integrity, and internal security. Specifically, the text from one of the complaints highlighted that Gandhi's remarks were directed at the SC, ST, and OBC communities, potentially endangering the nation's sovereignty.

Adding to the political turmoil, an FIR was lodged against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu in Bengaluru by an officer-bearer of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC). This action was in response to Bittu's comments regarding Gandhi's statements in the U.S. about the plight of Sikhs in India. The police filed the FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including spreading false information, provoking riots, and promoting enmity between different groups.

Bittu, the Minister of State for Railways, had launched a verbal attack against Gandhi, referring to those supporting the Congress leader as "manufacturing bombs" and labeling Gandhi as the "number one terrorist". The Congress party condemned Bittu's remarks, dismissing them as senseless.

This escalating feud between the BJP and the Congress highlights the intense political rivalry that has been sparked by Gandhi's comments during his engagements in the USA. Both parties have taken significant legal steps, filing cross-police complaints in a bid to hold the other accountable.
