Congress Critiques BJP for Not Keeping Election Promises to Rajasthan Farmers

Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra criticised the BJP for not fulfilling its promises to farmers regarding minimum income support, improved MSP on wheat, and loan waivers. He accused the ruling party of misleading the public.

BJPs Broken Promises to Farmers

Reacting to the release of funds under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to 65 lakh farmers by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma at a state function in Tonk on Sunday, Dotasra said the BJP had promised Rs 12,000 per year to farmers but it has only been increased to Rs 8,000, an increase of just Rs 2,000.

BJP's Unfulfilled Promises

Dotasra claimed that even this increased amount was not fully provided to farmers, stating that only Rs 1,000 was given on Sunday. He criticised the BJP government in Rajasthan for organising large events for advertising but failing to deliver on its promises made to farmers before the assembly elections.

The Congress leader pointed out that the BJP had promised a Rs 300 bonus on the support price of wheat in its manifesto, but this was never implemented. He also mentioned that the BJP had made several statements about waiving farmers' debts but did not waive any after coming to power.

Congress's Actions for Farmers

Dotasra highlighted that the previous Congress government had waived Rs 14,000 crore of debt for 21 lakh farmers and provided free electricity up to 2,000 units for agricultural work. He added that Congress had passed a law to stop the auction of agricultural land up to 5 acres, but this bill is still pending approval from the central government.

He further criticised the ruling party's unfulfilled promise of compensating 19,000 farmers whose land was attached due to loan defaults. Dotasra emphasised that Congress always fulfils its promises while accusing the BJP of gaining power by misleading people.

"The BJP government organises big events for advertising but does not fulfil its promises made to farmers ahead of elections," Dotasra said. "The ruling party's promise on compensation to 19,000 farmers whose land was attached over loan defaults also remained unfulfilled," he added.

Dotasra concluded by reiterating that Congress always delivers on its commitments, contrasting it with what he described as the BJP's failure to keep its promises.
