BJP Clinches Victory in Chhattisgarh Lok Sabha Elections, Surpassing Congress
In a significant political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged victorious in four Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, with one seat being taken from the Congress. The latest trends and results also show the BJP maintaining a strong lead in six other constituencies across the state. The Congress, on the other hand, is currently leading in only one seat, Korba, where its sitting MP Jyotsna Mahant is contesting against the BJP's Saroj Pandey.

Chhattisgarh, which has a total of 11 Lok Sabha seats, witnessed a notable victory for the BJP's Vijay Baghel in Durg. Baghel, the sitting MP, secured his position by defeating Rajendra Sahu of the Congress with a substantial margin of 438,226 votes. Another significant win for the BJP was in the Surguja constituency, a Scheduled-Tribe reserved area, where Chintamani Maharaj triumphed over Congress's Shashi Singh by 64,822 votes.
The Bastar Lok Sabha constituency saw a major upset with the BJP's Mahesh Kashyap defeating Kawasi Lakhma, a prominent tribal leader and former state minister from the Congress, by 55,245 votes. This was particularly noteworthy as Bastar was one of the two seats won by the Congress in 2019. In the SC-reserved Janjgir-Champa seat, BJP's Kamlesh Jangde emerged victorious against Shivkumar Dahariya of the Congress by a margin of 60,000 votes.
Senior BJP leader Brijmohan Agrawal led by more than 500,000 votes against his nearest Congress rival in Raipur, the state capital. The BJP also showed strong performance in five other seats – Bilaspur, Raigarh ST, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, and Kanker ST. Notably, in Rajnandgaon, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel represented the Congress.
This electoral outcome marks a shift from the 2019 polls where the BJP had secured nine out of eleven Lok Sabha seats and the Congress had won two. The results and trends from this election underscore a significant consolidation of support for the BJP in Chhattisgarh.
