BJP demands time-bound inquiry against Oommen Chandy in Solar scam

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad accused the Congress of not sparing any of the 'Pancha Mahabhuta' or five prime elements

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday demanded a time-bound probe in the Kerala solar scam. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad demanded a thorough probe in the case involving former Kerala Cheif Minister and Congress strongman Oommen Chandy.

The BJP indulged in a double-edged attack against the CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress in Kerala over political murders and corruption respectively. "Taking measures against corruption has never been part of the Congress' DNA," Ravi Shankar Prasad said. While the BJP rubbished the Congress' speculations over Election Commission deferring announcement of Gujarat Assembly election dates, Prasad launched attacks on the opposition parties, especially in Kerala.

At a time when the BJP is organizing 'Jan Suraksha yatra' in Kerala and other parts of the country, Prasad alleged a nexus between the left parties and Congress-led UDF in Kerala working against the BJP. "BJP has the right to come to power in Kerala. It is the people of Kerala who have to decide that," he said. The union minister added that the CPM's real objective was to contain anyone opposed to them through violence and attacks.
