BJP Corporator's Son Conducts Online Nikah with Pakistani Woman Amid Visa Challenges
A cross-border wedding ceremony occurred in an Uttar Pradesh district, where a BJP leader's son married a Pakistani girl through an online nikah. Tahseen Shahid, a Bharatiya Janata Party corporator, arranged the marriage of his elder son, Mohammad Abbas Haider, with Andleep Zahra from Lahore.

Despite efforts to secure a visa, the groom faced obstacles due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. The situation worsened when the bride's mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi, became ill and was admitted to the ICU in Pakistan. Given these challenges, Shahid opted for an online wedding ceremony.
Online Nikah Ceremony
On Friday night, Shahid gathered with the baraati at an imambara to participate in the online nikah. The bride's family joined the ceremony from Lahore. Shia religious leader Maulana Mahfoozul Hasan Khan explained that in Islam, a woman's consent is crucial for nikah, and she communicates it to the maulana.
He further mentioned that an online nikah is feasible when maulanas from both sides can conduct the ceremony together. This arrangement allowed both families to witness the union despite geographical barriers.
Hope for Visa Approval
Haider expressed optimism that his wife would obtain her Indian visa without difficulty. The couple hopes to overcome bureaucratic hurdles soon. The wedding ceremony was attended by BJP MLC Brijesh Singh Prishu and other guests who congratulated the groom's family.
The unique circumstances of this wedding highlight how technology can bridge gaps even amidst political tensions. It also underscores the importance of family consent and religious customs in such ceremonies.
