BJP Reveals Six Candidates for Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha Polls

In a significant political development from Amaravati, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled on May 13 in Andhra Pradesh. Among the six candidates fielded by the party are notable figures including the last chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh, a former YSRCP member, and the current state BJP chief.

N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who served as the last chief minister following K. Rosaiah's tenure in united Andhra Pradesh, will be contesting from the Rajampet constituency. Reddy, a former Congress stalwart and speaker of the state, made headlines with his switch to the BJP in 2023. This move marks a significant chapter in his political career as he aims for a comeback in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Another prominent candidate is V. Varaprasad Rao, a former IAS officer and ex-MP from YSRCP for Tirupati SC constituency between 2014 and 2019. Rao, who also served as an MLA from Gudur constituency, recently joined BJP and was promptly announced as the party's candidate for Tirupati SC.

D. Purandeswari, serving as the president of Andhra Pradesh BJP, will contest from Rajamundry. Purandeswari has had a successful political career with victories in Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket in 2004 and 2009 before joining BJP in 2014.

The BJP has also fielded B. Srinivas Varma for Narasapuram and Kothapalli Geetha for Araku constituency ST. Geetha, who won from Araku on a YSRCP ticket in 2014, later aligned with BJP, showcasing the dynamic shifts within Andhra Pradesh's political landscape.

C. M. Ramesh, a Rajya Sabha MP from BJP, has been chosen to contest from Anakapalli constituency, further strengthening the party's electoral strategy in the state.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) constituents in Andhra Pradesh have finalized their seat-sharing formula for both Parliamentary and Assembly polls. According to this arrangement, BJP will contest six Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats while TDP will contest 144 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats. Additionally, actor-politician Pawan Kalyan's Janasena Party will contest two Lok Sabha and 21 Assembly seats.

The Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha polls are set to take place for 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats across Andhra Pradesh on May 13, with results being declared on June 4. This election is poised to be a crucial event that could reshape the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh.
