BJP campaign in Tripura shifted largely from Ram Mandir to development
The BJP has largely focused on the development of Tripura while accusing the Left-Congress combine of not doing enough on this front
One of the main focus of the BJP in the run up to the elections in Tripura has been the development the state has witnessed in the past five years.
The BJP which had in the 2018 elections ended the 25-year rule of the CPI(M) is looking to retain power.

While the BJP did touch upon the Ram Mandir issue during its campaign in Tripura, its primary focus has been on the development of the state. In fact the main plan of the BJP has been on development and the priority Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given to the northeastern states.
The BJP during its campaign said that development in Tripura took place at the speed of a 'bullet train.' Had the BJP not been in power, none would have got free vaccines, free treatment and free vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath had said.
The BJP also stressed on the good governance model in Tripura. Further more the party stressed heavily on the protection of the people of the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Since coming to power, the BJP has focused heavily on road infrastructure not just in Tripura, but in all northeastern states. Connectivity also was a major issue that the BJP raised during the elections.
Further the BJP also spoke about the respect that the BJP has given the last ruler of Tripura Maharaj Bir Bikram. The party said that the newly built Agartala airport was named after the last king of the state.
While addressing his second rally at the Radhakishorepur district in Tripura, PM Modi hit out at the Congress-Left alliance and accused them of looting the state for years. The dreams of the poor, tribal communities, women and youth of Tripura were shattered by the Left-Congress regimes, he said.
Speaking about the connectivity, the PM added that in the last five years, the BJP had connected 5,000 villages. It was the faith of the people of Tripura which made us give our best towards bringing development in the state, he said.
At another rally in Ambassa district, PM Modi said that the BJP had brought the state back on track where development is concerned in just five years.
The BJP in its manifesto, 'Unnato Tripura Sreshetho Tripura,' said that the key focus would be on farmers, economic development, youth, infrastructure, health, inclusive development, governance, culture and tourism and schedule tribes.
The other points touched upon were ensuring women's safety, ensuring woman and child well-being, securing the rights of indigenous communities, holistic development of tribes, economic and social upliftment, tribal welfare, preserving tribal language and cultural identity.
The BJP also promised the overall development of farmers by saying that their welfare would be of utmost priority. The aim is to provide robust infrastructure, the party said.
In addition to the developmental works, the BJP also spoke about the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya during the campaign in Tripura. Yogi Adityanath alleged that the CPI(M) and Congress do not believe in the existence of Lord Ram or Krishna. He accused the Congress of trying to stall the construction of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple corridor and the Ram Mandir. He also added that the Congress and Left were the biggest barriers for the construction of the Ram Mandir as they do not want to honour faith.
While kicking off the election campaign in January, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader, Amit Shah announced that the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will be ready by January 1. Shah also touched upon the issue of Article 370.
