BJP MP C P Joshi Asks Lok Sabha Speaker to Cancel Rahul Gandhi's Passport Over US Remarks

BJP MP C P Joshi has urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to revoke Rahul Gandhi's passport. Joshi claims Gandhi's remarks during his recent US visit were anti-national. In his letter, Joshi accused Gandhi of misusing his position and demanded his resignation as Leader of the Opposition. The Congress leader's four-day unofficial trip involved interactions with university students and the Indian diaspora.

C P Joshi Seeks Cancellation of Rahul Gandhis Passport

During his US visit, Gandhi's comments on unemployment in India and the RSS drew criticism from the BJP and its ally, TDP. They accused him of promoting China and undermining India abroad. Joshi described Gandhi as a "black spot in Indian democracy." He argued that Gandhi's statements could harm national stability and international relations.

Allegations of Misconduct

Joshi emphasised that Gandhi's remarks were not merely political but constituted anti-national activities. He expressed concerns about Gandhi's conduct, stating that such statements damage India's image. Joshi argued that these cannot be justified under freedom of expression. He insisted on the cancellation of Gandhi's passport to prevent further misuse of his position.

Rajasthan BJP general secretary and MLA Jitendra Gothwal supported Joshi's demand. Gothwal suggested that Gandhi's membership in Parliament should also be revoked alongside his passport cancellation. He accused Gandhi of attempting to tarnish India's reputation internationally.

Calls for Resignation

Joshi reiterated the need for Rahul Gandhi to resign from his significant role as Leader of the Opposition. He believes this step is crucial due to the potential impact of Gandhi's actions on India's national interests. The BJP sees this as a necessary measure to uphold the country's dignity.

The controversy surrounding Gandhi's US visit highlights ongoing tensions between political parties in India. It underscores the challenges faced by leaders when addressing sensitive topics on international platforms. The situation remains a focal point for political debate within the country.
