BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Linking Maliwal Assault to Rajya Sabha Nomination; AAP Retorts

In a recent development that has stirred the political landscape of Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has levelled allegations against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming his intent to nominate a senior lawyer to the Rajya Sabha is linked to the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal, a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Upper House. The BJP's accusations have sparked a vehement response from the AAP, which accuses the BJP of lacking a constructive narrative and resorting to incarcerating opposition leaders while levelling baseless allegations.

BJP-AAP Clash Over Maliwal Assault

The controversy took a new turn with Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi unit chief of the BJP, questioning how AAP concluded the BJP's involvement in Maliwal's alleged assault at Kejriwal's residence by his close aide Bibhav Kumar. AAP leaders have countered by suggesting that Maliwal's allegation is part of a conspiracy by the BJP to ensnare Kejriwal. Amidst these accusations, Kejriwal has accused the BJP of initiating 'Operation Jhadoo' to dismantle AAP, viewing it as a formidable challenge.

Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal for his silence on Maliwal's assault charge and accused him of engaging in political theatrics. He highlighted that Kejriwal's protest near the BJP headquarters in Delhi and his announcement to march with AAP leaders to facilitate their arrest by Prime Minister Narendra Modi were part of this drama. Sachdeva also connected the assault on Maliwal with Kejriwal's alleged desire to appoint a senior lawyer to the Rajya Sabha, suggesting that Kumar's arrest was significant due to his knowledge of Kejriwal's purported misconduct and corruption.

Bibhav Kumar was arrested and remanded in five-day police custody following Maliwal's complaint, leading to charges of molestation and attempted culpable homicide against him. This incident has further intensified the political feud between AAP and BJP, with Sachdeva accusing Kejriwal of promoting an ideology based solely on corruption.

In response to these allegations, AAP has challenged the BJP to address several issues, including why Prajwal Revanna was allowed to leave India on a diplomatic passport and why BJP supports Brij Bhushan Singh despite allegations of sexual harassment against him. Kejriwal maintains that despite efforts by the BJP and Prime Minister Modi to weaken AAP by arresting its leaders, the party will remain resilient as it represents a thought that resonates with millions across India.

This ongoing political saga between AAP and BJP continues to unfold, highlighting deep-seated rivalries and accusations of corruption and misconduct. As both parties stand firm in their positions, the impact of these developments on Delhi's political climate remains to be seen.
