Rare and surprising: Woman gives birth to five babies

New Delhi, April 3: A rare and surprising incident took place in Chhattisgarh as a woman gave birth to quintuplets (five babies) on Saturday.

The 25-year old-lady gave birth to the babies at Civil Hospital in Ambikapur town of Chhattisgarh's Surguja district.

"All the children are said to be healthy, but have been kept under the observation of doctors as they are underweight as compared to normal babies," a paediatric at the hospital was quoted as saying in an ANI report.

The babies have been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit as they are underweight.

The delivery was of Manita (the mother) took place in the seventh month.

"A sonography test done before the delivery had detected more than two children, but five were far from our imagination," Manita's kin told ANI.
