Bittu Defends His Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi, Urges Congress to Address Leader's Comments
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has defended his recent comments about Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. Bittu suggested that the Congress should focus on Gandhi's remarks in the US regarding Sikhs. Recently, Bittu criticised Gandhi for his statements about the Sikh community in India, suggesting that those supporting Gandhi were akin to terrorists. This led to an FIR being filed against Bittu in Bengaluru by a Congress Karnataka unit official.

Controversial Remarks and Reactions
During an event in Jaipur, Bittu questioned Gandhi's statements made in America. He remarked, "Either Rahul Gandhi is a Pappu... or he is a very naughty, cunning man." He further questioned the need for such comments abroad, highlighting that prominent Indian figures like the Air Force chief and CISF chief are Sikhs. Bittu emphasised that the issue transcends party lines and concerns Punjab and Sikhs.
Earlier, Congress workers protested against Bittu's remarks on Gandhi. They were detained by police but later released at various locations. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condemned the detention of Congress workers, stating that peaceful protests are part of democracy. Gehlot demanded an apology from Bittu for his violent statement against Gandhi.
Gandhi's Statements and Bittu's Criticism
During his US visit, Rahul Gandhi stated, "The fight in India is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban... whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a kada or go to the Gurudwara." He emphasised that this struggle extends beyond Sikhs to all religions. In response, Bittu accused Gandhi of spending too much time abroad and speaking negatively about India. He claimed that separatists who support dividing India are backing Gandhi.
Bittu also mentioned that those who manufacture bombs are supporting Gandhi, labelling him as the "number one terrorist" in India. He suggested there should be a reward for capturing Gandhi, calling him the country's biggest enemy. These statements have sparked significant controversy and debate.
Railways' Initiatives for Sports
At the same Jaipur event, Bittu announced plans to increase the budget for sports equipment through the Railways. The government aims to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of hosting the Olympic Games in India by 2038 and increasing medal counts. An indoor stadium costing Rs 40.50 crore will be constructed in Ganpati Nagar Railway Colony within two years.
The Railways is committed to promoting sports by providing training facilities for athletes. The new stadium will offer amenities for basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, table tennis, wrestling, and other sports. These efforts reflect the government's dedication to enhancing India's sports infrastructure.
Bittu's comments have stirred political tensions between Congress and BJP. His criticism of Rahul Gandhi has led to protests and calls for apologies from opposition leaders. Meanwhile, the government's focus on sports development continues with plans for new facilities and increased funding.
