Bihar: Tribal woman to be awarded Florence Nightingale award

Patna, May 5: Martha Dodray, 40, had already been honoured with the United Nations Foundation award and she is now being selected for the National Florence Nightingale Award 2014 for her extraordinary contribution in eradicating Polio.

"I am happy the president will honour me for my work in polio immunization campaign,"said the native of Palamu district of Jharkhand.

A midwife in Kusheshwarsthan primary health centre in the state's Darbhanga district, Dodray said that she walked miles to reach the remotest of villages to administer polio vaccination to children, mostly belonging to the poorest of families.
