Bihar SIR Update: 98.2% Electors Submit Documents Ahead Of September 30 Final Roll

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reported that 98.2% of electors in Bihar have submitted their documents for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, with eight days still remaining in the process. Verification of these documents is ongoing, and more than 3.28 lakh new electors have submitted their forms. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on September 30.

According to a press note issued by the ECI, information from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar shows that between June 24 and August 24, 2025, 98.2% of electors have submitted their documents over the 60-day period, averaging about 1.64% per day. Only 1.8% of electors remain to submit their documents, with the deadline of September 1 approaching. The collection of documents is being facilitated by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and volunteers, and is expected to be completed ahead of schedule, similar to the earlier enumeration exercise.

Verification is being conducted concurrently by 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 2,976 Assistant EROs (AEROs). Out of the 7.24 crore electors in the draft rolls, 0.16% of Claims and Objections have been received so far. These include ten from the BLAs of 12 Recognized Political Parties in Bihar, none from individuals outside the Assembly Constituency, and 1,21,143 from electors within their respective constituencies.

Additionally, 3,28,847 new electors who have turned 18 years or will turn 18 between July 1 and October 1 have submitted their Form 6 and Declarations. The SIR exercise in Bihar is progressing as planned, with all claims, objections, and eligibility verifications to be completed by the concerned EROs and AEROs by September 25. The final electoral rolls will be published after the final checks on September 30.
