Bihar: RJD, Congress, Left Leaders Announce Seat-Sharing Formula For Lok Sabha Elections 2024
During a joint press conference, leaders of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties announced the seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Bihar. As per the announcement, Lalu Yadav's RJD will contest 26 seats, out of 40, while Congress fields its candidates on 9 seats. 5 seats have been allotted to the left parties.
Notably, the RJD has kept both the safe seats-Purnea and Hajipur, and allotted Kishanganj and Patna Sahib to Congress which are known as BJP's strongholds.

However, Rajesh Ranjan aka Pappu Yadav has been left in a lurch as Congress top brass had promised him the Purnea seat, but RJD kept the constituency for itself and announced Bima Bharti's name to contest elections this time.
Papu Yadav was not happy with the alliance partners' decision as he had merged his own party Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik) in Congress a week ago on the condition that he would get a ticket.
Talking to the media, Yadav had said that he would die, but not leave Purnea as he is son of the soil and will continue to serve the people of the constituency.
Polling for Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha seats will take place in all 7 phases on April 19, 26, May 7, 13, 20, 25, and June 1. The counting of votes will be held nationwide on June 4.
On the other side, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced 16 seats for Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and one seat each for Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Aawam Morcha (HAM) and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP). The saffron front itself will contest 17 seats.
The Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will contest 5 seats.
