Bihar Polls 2025: JDU MP Giridhari Yadav Calls EC’s Voter Roll Revision a ‘Tughlaqi Farman’

JD(U) MP from Bihar, Giridhari Yadav, has lashed out at the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, calling it a "Tughlaqi farman" and criticising it as impractical and poorly timed.

Speaking to ANI outside Parliament, Yadav said it took him 10 days just to arrange the required documents. "If I faced such delays, what about farmers and daily wage earners? People are in their fields during the monsoon. How can they leave their work to manage paperwork?" he said.

Yadav shared a personal example, pointing out that his son lives in the U.S. "How is he supposed to sign documents within a month? That's simply not realistic," he said.

He argued that such an extensive exercise should have come with at least a six-month preparation window. "I'm not speaking on behalf of my party-this is my independent thought," he clarified. "If I can't speak the truth as an MP, then what am I here for?"

The MP also took a swipe at the Election Commission, accusing it of not understanding Bihar's socio-economic realities. "They don't know our history or geography. Their expectations are detached from ground realities," he said.

His remarks echo those of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who recently stated in the Vidhan Sabha that the opposition isn't against the SIR itself, but against its rushed rollout.
