Bihar official receives 'threat' letter by ISIS demanding job, housing

Munger (Bihar), Aug 20: A top Bihar official today received a threat letter in the name of militant group ISIS which among other demands sought immediate clearance of waiting list of housing scheme and job in Accounts section, leading it to being dealt as the handiwork of some local persons, even as the official's security was enhanced.

Munger Commissioner Lyon Kunga today received the threat letter in the name of ISIS which also sought Rs 50 lakh for the outfit.

The letter which does not have name and place of the sender, was received by post. A copy of it was also found pasted on the wall of the Commissioner's official residence, Deputy Inspector General of Police S P Shukla told PTI.

Following this, a meeting of senior officers including DIG, District Magistrate Amrendra Kumar Singh and Superintendent of Police Barun Sinha was held with Kunga.

The letter sought Rs 50 lakh for the outfit as well immediate clearance of waiting list of Indira Awas Yojna and recruitment in Accounts section, the DM said. After the meeting, the officials came to the conclusion that it appeared to be the handiwork of some local persons, the Commissioner and SP said.

The letter pasted on the wall of the entrance of the Commissioner's residence drew the attention of the guards today morning who reported it to the Commissioner.

Kunga said he had been working in Bihar for the past 30 year and has always cared for welfare of the citizens.

Though officials dismissed the letter as being done by some abnormal person, security for the Commissioner was enhanced with deployment of more policemen, the SP said, adding that "we are investigating into the matter," to find the sender of the letter.
