Nitish Kumar likely to take oath as Bihar CM on Nov 20; cabinet to have more RJD ministers than JD-U

Patna, Nov 10: After returning to helm in Bihar Assembly Elections Nitish Kumar is likely to take oath as state's chief minister along with a 35-member council of ministers on Nov 20.

"A 36-member cabinet including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will take oath after the Chhath festival," said a Janata Dal-United leader was earlier quoted as saying.

The oath taking ceremony could be organised at Patna's historic Ramlila Maidan after the Chhath festival which will be celebrated in the third week of November. Chhath is the most popular festival in Bihar.

As per reports, Nitish Kumar's cabinet will have more men from Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

According to leaders of the Grand Alliance, there will be 16 ministers from RJD, 15 from the JD-U and five from the Congress.

The RJD emerged as the single largest party with 80 assembly seats, followed by the JD-U with 71 and the Congress with 27.

The Grand Alliance bagged 178 seats, or a two-third majority, in the 243-member assembly. The BJP and its allies got a mere 58 seats.
