Bihar MP Pappu Yadav Faces Threat from Former Associate Posing as Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Member

Bihar Police have detained a man identified as a "former associate" of Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav. This individual allegedly impersonated a henchman of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to threaten the Lok Sabha MP. The aim was reportedly to secure increased security for Yadav. The suspect, Ram Babu Yadav, was apprehended in Bhojpur district.

Purnea SP Kartikeya K Sharma stated that Ram Babu Yadav was previously linked with the Jan Adhikar Party (JAP), which Pappu Yadav merged with Congress before the Lok Sabha elections. Pappu Yadav won the Purnea Lok Sabha seat as an Independent. "Purnea Police tracked Ram Babu Yadav’s location and arrested him. Preliminary investigations revealed that he has no connections with any gang. He was formerly associated with JAP. He has confessed that he sent threatening messages to the Lok Sabha MP on the instruction of some people associated with the MP himself," Sharma said.

Threatening Video Call

Ram Babu Yadav allegedly made a video call demanding an apology to Lawrence Bishnoi for a post threatening to dismantle the jailed gangster’s network. He claimed he received Rs 2000 for creating and sending this video via WhatsApp to the MP. Additionally, he mentioned being promised Rs 2 lakh more and a political position from individuals linked to the MP after dispatching another pre-recorded threatening video.

The police are investigating further to uncover the motive behind these actions. "Police have so far found no evidence to corroborate the claims made by the accused during questioning. The matter is being further investigated," Sharma said. The investigation aims to verify if there is any truth in Ram Babu Yadav's statements or if other motives are involved.

Background of Threats

Pappu Yadav has reportedly been receiving death threats since expressing his intent to dismantle the Bishnoi gang following former lawmaker Baba Siddique's murder in Mumbai. Shortly after Siddique's assassination, Yadav posted on his official X handle, vowing to eliminate Bishnoi's network within 24 hours, suspecting their involvement in Siddique's death.

The police continue their probe into these threats and the circumstances surrounding them. They aim to determine whether there is any connection between these threats and the recent arrest of Ram Babu Yadav. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek clarity on this complex situation.
