Bihar Gang War: Know About Sonu-Monu Gang Which Attacked On Ex MLA Anant Singh
Former Mokama MLA Anant Singh was fired upon in Nauranga village, Bihar on Wednesday. The Sonu-Monu gang is suspected to be involved in this incident. The police have initiated an investigation and recovered three shells from the scene. Anant Singh had been released from jail five months prior, following his acquittal by the Patna High Court on 14 August 2024 in a case involving an AK-47 and a bulletproof jacket.
The enmity between Anant Singh and the Sonu-Monu gang traces back to the Panchayat elections. Sonu-Monu's sister wanted to contest the elections from Nauranga Jalalpur Panchayat but was disqualified for being underage. Additionally, Guddu Singh allegedly harassed her at Anant Singh's behest, which prevented her candidacy. This incident angered Monu and Sonu significantly.

Background of Conflict
Sonu and Monu were once close associates of Anant Singh but later became adversaries. Their animosity intensified when they accused Anant Singh of opposing their family and supporting Guddu Singh's family during a conflict. This led to a violent confrontation where Sonu-Monu killed Guddu Singh outside Barh Court on 8 September 2017.
Guddu Singh had over two dozen cases against him, including charges of kidnapping and murder related to Anil Mahato and Tuntun Mahato from Panchmahala village. He was scheduled to appear in court on the day he was killed by Sonu-Monu, who then fled the scene.
Recent Developments
After Anant Singh's release from jail, relations with Sonu-Monu seemed to improve. However, tensions resurfaced with this recent firing incident. The motive behind this renewed conflict remains unclear as police continue their investigation into the matter.
The situation escalated when members of the Sonu-Monu gang reportedly assaulted a village family and locked them out of their home. Anant Singh visited the affected family, during which he was targeted by gunfire. Following this attack, the assailants fled, prompting increased police presence in Nauranga village.
Police Investigation
Patna SSP Avkash Kumar stated that multiple police stations are involved in investigating the case. Barh DSP Rakesh Kumar mentioned that upon receiving information about the firing, officers promptly arrived at the location. They have identified three shells at the site and are working on identifying those responsible based on applications received from victims.
The police are actively pursuing leads to uncover those involved in this violent episode. Authorities assure that action will be taken against all individuals implicated as they gather more evidence through ongoing investigations.
