Bihar floor test: Nitish Kumar wins trust vote, 131:108

Nitish Kumar who was sworn as Bihar Chief Minister for the 6th time will face a crucial trust vote in the legislative assembly today. The JD(U) and the BJP claim to have the support of 132 legislators.

Nitish Kumar took oath as the CM on Thursday. On Wednesday he resigned as the CM while breaking away from the Grand Alliance comprising the RJD and Congress. On Thursday, Sushil Modi of the BJP was sworn in as the deputy CM of Bihar.

In the 243 member assembly, Nitish Kumar would need the support of 122 MLAs to prove his majority.

JD(U) has 71 legislators, the BJP has 53 and its allies 5.

The RJD and Congress together have 107 seats while there are four independents and 3 CPI-ML lawmakers.
