Bihar Elections 2025: Chirag Paswan Confident Of 225 Seats for NDA

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has dismissed speculation of friction within the NDA over seat-sharing for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, asserting that the alliance is aiming to win more than 225 of the 243 seats. Speaking to Aaj Tak, Paswan also hinted at contesting himself, suggesting a possible expansion of his role in state politics.

Seat-Sharing and NDA Dynamics

Responding to reports of demands from allies such as Jitan Ram Manjhi for a larger share of seats, Paswan insisted there was no internal discord. "Statements will be made during election time, but winnability should be our main focus," he said, underlining that electoral strength, not public bargaining, will guide the NDA's seat-sharing formula.

Paswan also addressed speculation of a rift with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, describing him as an "integral part of the NDA." He noted that while his decision to contest separately in 2020 hurt JD(U)'s performance, equations within the alliance have since realigned.

Political Ambitions

While Paswan refrained from openly declaring any ambition for the Chief Minister's post, he did not rule it out either. "There is no vacancy for the post of Chief Minister today," he remarked, dismissing suggestions that his aspirations could create divisions. Reaffirming his loyalty, he said: "For me, the alliance is a priority. My dedication is for Prime Minister Modi."

Criticism of Opposition

Turning to the opposition, Paswan ridiculed the INDIA bloc's Bihar rally, arguing that Tejashwi Yadav should have been projected as their CM face. "Tejashwi will definitely be hurt by this," he said, suggesting discontent within the bloc. He also questioned Yadav's ongoing tour, saying it reflected deeper unease in the grand alliance.

Revival of Campaign Themes

Paswan revived the 'jungle raj' narrative, warning that an RJD return to power would bring back crime and corruption in Bihar. He further alleged attempts of infiltration aimed at disturbing the state's electoral process, adding that the NDA would counter such challenges.
