Bihar Election 2025: Unhappy Upendra Kushwaha Flies To Delhi To Meet Amit Shah Over Seat Sharing

A quiet unease inside the NDA's Bihar camp has suddenly turned into a full-blown power tussle.
With just weeks left for the Assembly election, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha has been called to Delhi by Union Home Minister Amit Shah - a clear sign that the BJP wants to douse the flames before they spread.

Kushwaha, who has been dropping hints for days that "all is not well" in the alliance, cancelled his Patna meeting with party workers on short notice. He's now on his way to Delhi, joined by Union Minister Nityanand Rai, for what's being described as a make-or-break conversation.

"Some pondering needs to be done on the decisions being made in the NDA. I'm hopeful everything will be fine,"
Kushwaha said before leaving.

Mahua - The Flashpoint

At the heart of the crisis lies one seat: Mahua.
Initially promised to Kushwaha's party, the seat is now being reconsidered for Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). The move has angered Kushwaha, who wants his son Deepak Prakash Kushwaha to contest from there.

His loyalists say he has already begun preparing ground support in Mahua - a sign he's unwilling to let go easily.

Midnight Meetings, No Resolution

Sensing the rising tension, senior BJP leaders made a late-night dash to Kushwaha's residence on Tuesday. Dharmendra Pradhan, Nityanand Rai, Samrat Chaudhary, and Nitin Naveen were all present.

The meeting went on till nearly 2 a.m. but ended without a breakthrough. None of the BJP leaders spoke to the media afterward. Kushwaha, in a moment of visible frustration, later told reporters,

"Nothing is well in NDA."

Chirag Paswan Moves Ahead

While the NDA tries to fix its internal equations, Chirag Paswan seems to have moved on. The LJP (Ram Vilas) chief has begun distributing party symbols and finalizing candidates for key constituencies - a move that signals confidence and independence.

Four names have already been cleared:

• Hulas Pandey - Brahmapur
• Raju Tiwari - Govindganj
• Sanjay Paswan - Bakhri
• Seemant Mrinal - Garkha

For now, the NDA in Bihar finds itself walking a tightrope - with one ally asserting control, another showing defiance, and the BJP rushing to keep the alliance from cracking before the first vote is cast.
