Bihar Boosts Support for Women with More One Stop Centers

In a significant move to combat violence against women and provide swift assistance to victims, the Bihar government has decided to expand the One Stop Center (OSC) initiative across the state. These centers aim to offer immediate support to women facing abuse, ensuring they receive essential services under one roof.

Bihar Boosts Support for Women with More One Stop Centers

To raise awareness about OSCs, the government has launched weekly awareness campaigns in various panchayats. This initiative is designed to educate women, particularly in rural areas, about the available services and encourage them to seek help when needed. Efforts are being intensified to extend the reach of these centers to every corner of the state, especially in remote regions.

Comprehensive Support for Women

The One Stop Centers provide a safe and supportive environment where women can report incidents of violence and receive medical, legal, and psychological assistance without fear. These centers are proving to be a lifeline for women in distress, helping them become self-reliant and empowered.

Current Status of OSCs in Bihar

Currently, 39 One Stop Centers are operational in Bihar, and they have already provided support to over 4,400 women. The services offered include free medical aid, legal guidance, and counseling. Additionally, the centers provide temporary shelter for up to five days, with an extension of up to 10 days in exceptional cases.

Key Features of the One Stop Centers

Immediate Assistance: Victims receive medical aid, legal advice, and counseling in one place.
24/7 Support: The centers operate round the clock to ensure timely assistance.
Dedicated Paramedical Staff: Each OSC has trained medical personnel to provide first aid and urgent care.
Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Legal advisors and police support are available to assist victims in filing complaints.
Future Plans for Expansion
The Social Welfare Department has announced plans to expand the network of OSCs beyond district headquarters, ensuring their presence at sub-district and village levels. The department is actively working on the implementation strategy, which is expected to be rolled out in the coming months.

This initiative marks a significant step toward women's empowerment and safety in Bihar, ensuring that victims of violence receive the support they need without delay or discrimination.
