Reports claimed that Poonam Sinha will contest elections either from Digha or Bankipur legislative seats of Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency.

Sources said that everything has been finalised, only the formal announcement is yet to be made.

However Sinha brushed aside the rumuors saying, "If it was the case I could have talked to Kumar over telephone instead of going to his home. Our friendship and affection for each other is beyond such things."

The BJP leader said his wife has been active in his Parliamentary election and also in social work.

"If she desires and decides to fight election we will make it known publicly. BJP is my first party and perhaps would be the last party," he said. "Politics is an art of flexibility," he added.

Recently, Shatrughan, who is popularly known as Bihari Babu, met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence and exchanged warmth with him, that raised many eyebrows. [Shatrughan wants BJP to declare CM candidate for Bihar polls]

While downplaying the meeting, Sinha said, "It was a courtesy call and I consider him as guardian of the state."

"No politics should be seen in the meeting. It is well known that we are old friends and respect each other. Even Prime Minister today said there should be no untouchability in politics. If I go and meet Kumar over a cup of tea, no meaning should be attached to it," he had said. [Shatrughan, Nitish exchange warmth at Patna Airport]

Meanwhile Bihar Chief MInister Nitish Kumar said, "Shatrughan Sinha is a pride of Bihar and has been a high class actor. We meet out of personal relationship and no politics is discussed."

"Its purely his choice, in whichever party he wishes to be. Our meeting and relations would not be affected by it," the CM said

Sinha, who joined BJP in 1984 at the height of his film career and when the saffron party had only two MPs, said so far party central leadership has not demarcated a role for him in the Bihar elections suitable to his personality.

The major political parties like JD(U), RJD, LJP, BJP and Congress have already sounded the poll bugle. Only the elections dates are set to be finalised by the Election Commission.
