Big Update For Toll Plaza Users: FASTag Annual Pass Fee Goes Up From April 1

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised the FASTag Annual Pass fee to ₹3,075 for the financial year 2026-27, with the updated rate set to come into effect from April 1, 2026.

The annual pass, meant for eligible non-commercial vehicles fitted with a valid FASTag, is currently priced at ₹3,000 and will now see a modest increase ahead of the new financial year.

Revised FASTag Annual Pass rate effective from April 1

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the fee revision has been carried out under the provisions of the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. The annual pass remains available for private, non-commercial vehicles that already have a valid FASTag linked to them.

The pass can be used across nearly 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways across the country, making it a widely accessible option for regular highway users.

One-time annual payment offers relief to frequent highway commuters

Instead of repeatedly recharging FASTag balances for toll deductions, the annual pass enables users to make a single payment for the year. Once purchased, the pass stays valid for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever is reached first.

The facility has been positioned as a practical and economical solution for people who travel frequently on national highways, especially those looking for a smoother toll payment experience without the need for repeated top-ups.

"The annual pass gets activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle after payment of the one-time fee," the ministry said.

Purchase and renewal available through Rajmarg Yatra app, NHAI website

Commuters can buy or renew the FASTag Annual Pass using the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or through the official website of the National Highways Authority of India. The ministry clarified that the pass is linked to the existing FASTag attached to the eligible vehicle, allowing users to continue with their current tag instead of applying for a separate one.

The quick activation window is expected to make the process easier for users planning to renew or switch to the annual pass ahead of the new financial year.

Scheme launched in August 2025 sees strong user response

The FASTag Annual Pass was first introduced on August 15, 2025, and has seen strong uptake since launch. According to NHAI, more than 56 lakh vehicle owners are currently using the facility, underlining its growing popularity among frequent travellers.

Officials said the steady rise in adoption points to the convenience and ease the pass offers to regular highway commuters using national highways and expressways across India.
