Bharat Jodo Abhiyan Launches Campaign to Promote Communal Harmony
Bharat Jodo Abhiyan, a coalition of civil society groups, has announced a month-long campaign called Jana Gana Mana Abhiyaan to promote communal harmony and counter the rise of organized communalism in India. The campaign aims to revitalize citizens pride in Indias diverse cultural heritage and work towards a society based on constitutional values.
In a significant move to counter the rising tide of communalism in India, civil society groups under the banner of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan have come together to launch a month-long campaign to promote communal harmony and reclaim the republic.

Jana Gana Mana Abhiyaan: A Response to Organized Communalism
The campaign, called Jana Gana Mana Abhiyaan, comes ahead of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and aims to address the growing polarization of voters on religious lines. The Bharat Jodo Abhiyan, in a joint statement, expressed concern over the organized communalism that has gripped the country, emphasizing that it has nothing to do with true faith or religion but is a deliberate attempt to divide society for political gains.
Reclaiming India's Strengths and Assets
At this critical juncture, the Bharat Jodo Abhiyan seeks to remind Indian citizens of the nation's strengths and assets, including its founding principles, diverse heritage, and rich cultural traditions. The campaign aims to revitalize citizens who take pride in India's pluralistic heritage and work towards a society based on constitutional values.
Month-Long Campaign with Online and Offline Events
The month-long campaign will feature a series of online and offline events to engage citizens and spread the message of unity and progress. Convenors of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan, including Yogendra Yadav, Vijay Mahajan, Kavitha Kuruganti, and Kamayani Swami, addressed a press conference to launch the campaign and invited like-minded citizens to join the movement.
Call for Solidarity and Unity
The Bharat Jodo Abhiyan called upon citizens to give a missed call on a designated number to express solidarity and become co-travellers in the mission of unity and progress. The campaign aims to create a healthy, inclusive, truth-seeking, forward-looking, and compassionate society, and urges citizens to join the vital mission to reclaim the republic.
Bharat Jodo Abhiyan: A Platform for Social Justice
Bharat Jodo Abhiyan is a civil society platform that spans numerous people's organizations across 15 states of India. Its objective is to protect India's diverse social fabric, highlight issues of social, economic, and political justice, and strive for equality and fraternity among all citizens.
Reclaiming the Public Sphere
The Jana Gana Mana Abhiyaan is rooted in the conviction that the current atmosphere of organized communal frenzy should not overshadow India's civilizational heritage of co-living and the constitutional design of the democratic, secular republic. The campaign believes that a silent majority of Indians desire peaceful and harmonious co-existence but lack the opportunity to express their convictions in the current climate. Hence, the campaign aims to connect such citizens and reclaim the public sphere.
Events and Activities to Celebrate India's Diversity
The campaign will be held from January 3rd to 30th, 2024, and will include a variety of events and activities to celebrate India's iconic heroes, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekanand, Savitribai Phule, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. Additionally, festivals like Lohri and Sankranti will be celebrated as part of the campaign.
The Bharat Jodo Abhiyan's Jana Gana Mana Abhiyaan is a timely and significant initiative to counter the rising tide of communalism in India. By promoting communal harmony, reclaiming the republic, and celebrating India's diversity, the campaign aims to create a more inclusive and united society.
