Bhadohi Health Department Seals Unregistered Hospital Run by Quacks Following Patient Death

The Health Department sealed a private hospital on Monday after a court order revealed it was unregistered and operated by three individuals with fake medical degrees, according to police. This action against Laxmi Health Care Centre followed months after a patient's death prompted an investigation by the department.

Bhadohi Hospital Sealed for Quack Operations

Police have filed charges against the three alleged quack doctors and are actively searching for them. Bhadohi SHO Ashwini Kumar Tripathi stated that a case was registered on September 27 based on a complaint from Community Health Center Superintendent Dr. Sameer Upadhyay. The accused, Arvind Kumar Ojha, Anand Chauhan, and another colleague, face charges under sections of the BNS and the Indian Medical Council Act.

Investigation and Court Proceedings

Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. B N Singh mentioned that a three-member team was formed by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Santosh Kumar Chakn following the patient's death in November 2023. The investigation revealed that the hospital lacked registration, and all three individuals possessed fake degrees. The findings were submitted to CMO Santosh Kumar Chak in November.

A petition was filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate CJM Sabiha Khatoon by the victim's representatives, accusing authorities of inaction regarding the report. According to Singh, the CJM court issued an order on September 24, warning that if a case wasn't registered and an FIR copy wasn't presented within 48 hours, a non-bailable warrant would be issued against the CMO.

Legal Actions and Hospital Closure

The ACMO confirmed that Dr. Sameer Upadhyay registered a case against the three quacks, with a copy presented in the CJM court on September 28. Consequently, Laxmi Health Care Centre located on Chowri Road was sealed on Monday.

All three accused individuals remain at large, as confirmed by police reports. The authorities continue their search for Arvind Kumar Ojha, Anand Chauhan, and their colleague to ensure they face legal consequences for their actions.
