Bezwada Wilson makes K'taka proud, wins the Ramon Magsaysay Award
Bengaluru, July 27: The son of Karnataka's soil-Bezwada Wilson- has made his homeland proud. A social activist, fighting for the eradication of Manual Scavenging, Wilson is the founder of the Safai Karmachari Andolan in 1994.
He has won the award for his relentless dedication to the cause and the rehabilitation and enlightenment of manual scavengers.

Wilson's co-awardee is musician TM Krishna, who hails from Tamil Nadu. Krishna is known for his contribution to eradicate divisive politics in arts. He is being awarded for "social inclusiveness in culture."
