Beware! You would be fined for peeing on Varanasi Ganga ghats
New Delhi, Mar 3: Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC) has decided to impose fine on anybody who would be caught relieving at ghats on the Ganga river in the city. Giving tough message to habitual offenders, authority has announced a fine of Rs 500 for the offence.
Reportedly those people would also be fined who would be found using soap while bathing in the river.
Municipal commissioner Shrihari Pratap Shahi was quoted by TOI as saying, "A directive in this regard has been issued to the officials concerned and penal action will be initiated against the offenders" .
Shahi also said that Municipal Corporation is trying its best to keep ghats complex clean. He announced that 205 community toilet complexes (CTCs) have been constructed by the VMC near the ghats.
