Best traditional vegetarian dishes in the world: Check top 50 list

Seven Indian dishes have found a place in the list of Best 50 Traditional Vegetarian Dishes in the world.

Misal Pav, originated in Maharashtra, has occupied the top position among the Indian dishes in the top 50 list released by a food guide platform called Taste Atlas. It has landed in eleventh place.

Misal Pav is prepared by combining sprouted beans, vegetables, spices, and a spicy curry and served with toasted pav (bread) garnished with onions, coriander and lemon. However, there are multiple varieties of it such as Puneri Misal, Kolhapuri Misal, and Nashik Misal.

Although these are all originated in Maharashtra itself, each one has its own flavour and texture.

Aloo Gobi, which is originated in northern India, has taken the 20th spot in the list. It is followed by Rajma (22), Gobi Manchurian (24), Masala Vada (27), Bhelpuri (37) and Rajma Chawal (41).

The interesting part of the story is that Misal Pav, Gobi Manchurian, Masala Vada and Bhelpuri have become popular street food eateries in India. Not just in Maharashtra or North India, but the foods are quite popular in every nook and part of the country.

However, Persian dish Zeytoon Parvardeh has occupied the top position in the list. Originated in Iran, It is made with marinated olives.

Zeytoon Parvardeh is followed by Guacamole, Muhammara, Temple Goreng and Badrijani.
