Fake encounter accused IPS officer Abhay Chudasama promoted
Ahmedabad, Jun 8: Gujarat government promoted 1999 batch IPS officer Abhay Chudasama, who is an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, to the rank of a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) today.
Chudasama currently serves as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the State Monitoring Cell in Gandhinagar. He was reinstated in service by the Gujarat state government in August 2014, after he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in April 2014.

As per a notification issued tonight by the Gujarat state Home Department, Chudasama has been promoted as DIG with effect from July 29. He will now serve as DIG of the State Monitoring Cell, the notification stated.
Besides him, 1992 batch IPS officer N D Solanki, serving as SP (Intelligence) in Surat has also been elevated to the rank of IG by giving him two promotions.
The Gujarat state government also promoted two DIG rank officers to Inspector General of Police (IGP) grade, including Vadodara Range DIG Anupam Singh Gehlot and Principal of Police Training School in Vadodara Khursheed Ahmed.
