Bengaluru, Sept 4: Normal life may be hit once again on Saturday, Sept 5 as another bandh might be observed in Karnataka.

Several protest rallies might be held across Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru on Saturday. This time the bandh call has been given by the Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association and the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene.

The groups, which represent farmers of the state, called for bandh as the group members accused Karnataka government and Narendra Modi government at the Centre of showing indifferent attitude towards the problems of farmers.

Farmers, social organisations and pro-Kannada organisations are expected to take an active part in the bandh.

However, the bandh may not create much impact like the recent Bharat Bandh, which was observed on Sept 2, as political parties would not be allowed to take part in Saturday's state-wide strike.

Here are the some of the demands of the protesting group:

  • Sugarcane farmers should be paid the dues immediately.
  • Loans of all the farmers should be waived in all banks.
  • Loan policy of banks should be changed.
  • Minimum support price should be fixed as per Dr Swaminathan report.
