Bengaluru Shocker: Techie stabs wife, tries to commit suicide
Bengaluru, Aug 14: 45-year-old Arobindo Chakravarti and his wife, 37-year-old Smita Das were rushed to Manipal Hospital on Thursday, Aug 13.
It has been reported that Mr Arobindo, a techie, stabbed his wife first, then tried to kill self. The couple, who hails from Kolkata, is the resident of Kodihalli flat, off Old Airport Road, in east Bengaluru.
Arobindo, an employee of Thomson Reuters, had a heated argument with his wife on Thursday afternoon. Their 8-year-old daughter was in school at the moment when the techie stabbed his wife with a knife.
After stabbing Smita twice, Arobindo, who is project manager in the backend software division at Thomson Reuters, got scared and tried to cut his veins later.
Speaking about the incident, police sources were quoted as saying, "The couple had been having arguments over the past few days. On Thursday too, there was a loud quarrel between the couple."
"In the heat of the argument, Arobindo stabbed his wife twice in the stomach. Seeing so much blood and his wife in pain, he panicked and tried to stab himself in the stomach and also cut his veins, but couldn't."
Arbindo later sought help from their neighbours, who rushed the couple to Manipal Hospital. Both Arobindo and Smita underwent surgeries and doctors informed that the duo were out of danger.
Investigating police officers have been trying to ascertain the cause of the confrontation. Family members of Arobindo and Smita have been informed and police informed that they would reach Bengaluru soon.
