Bengaluru rains breaks 115 years old rainfall record
With the southwest monsoon continuing to stay heavy over interior regions of Karnataka, the Bengaluru city witnessed highest ever annual rainfall this year breaking the record of 115 years. The highest ever was recorded earlier in 2005 with more than 1606.8 mm rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 1,540 mm of rain as on Saturday, moving closer to the highest ever rainfall of 1,606.8 mm recorded in 2005.
At least five people were killed in rain-related incidents after heavy showers lashed Bengaluru on Friday.
L Ramesh Babu, an IMD director, Bengaluru city, said Friday night showers helped set the new record and with more than two and a half months left in the year, the annual rainfall could be much higher.
According to senior official at the meteorological department,''The combination of the weather system coupled by low pressure situation created in the Arabian Sea is resulting in showers over interior Karnataka and Bengaluru falls in this region.''
