Bengaluru: Pro-kannada activists blacken Hindi words at all 41 metro stations
Members of the pro-Kannada outfit in Bengaluru, Karantaka Rakshana Vedike blackened the signboards of 41 metro stations which were written in Hindi, according to media reports.
Rakshana Vedike leaders had formed three teams, of 7-8 activists, for each station. Earlier on Thursday, the activists also attempted to deface the Hindi fonts on signboard on MG Road metro station. However, they were immediately taken into the custody.

KRV demanded that the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd end the practice of using Hindi signboards at metro stations. The protesters claim that the time they had allotted the BMRCL to remove Hindi from the boards had expired and that they had now decided to act upon it.

This isn't the first time, in the past, the KRV defaced English and Hindi signage of a restaurant in a mall near Bengaluru's Eco tech park. Hindi words were also concealed on the signboards in Chickpete and Majestic metro stations.
The protest against the "imposition" of Hindi in Bangalore metro triggered by the online campaign "#NammaMetroHindiBeda" has been gaining momentum since the beginning of this month.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his recent visit to Delhi had reportedly said he would lodge a protest with the Centre on "imposition" of Hindi.
