Bengaluru: Labourer arrested for raping, killing 8-year old

Bengaluru, Feb 9: The police have arrested a local worker in Bengaluru Rural on charges of raping and killing an 8-year old girl on February 5.

The child's body was discovered in a car shed by other children playing in the area. POlice have retrieved the CCTV footage of the man taking the girl in a car shed and then leaving it after sometime without the girl.

He executed the henious crime at a gas connection office. The man was caught playing with the girl before leading her away to the shed. Based on the CCTV footage and people's description of him, police had released a sketch.

The woman, aged 20, was arrested in Hoskote taluk on Sunday afternoon.

The worker is from a village close to the crime site, said Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police B Ramesh. He further said that the man had tried to escape from the police and got injured after falling down. He was sent to the hospital after being arrested.

The worker has confessed to the crime. Police have also recovered a pair of trousers with bloodstains on them, which he was wearing on the day of the crime. The young girl's parents were migrant labourers from Hubli in north Karnataka.
