Bengaluru: Cop held for trying to help terror operative in jail
In the warrant cover, he got two Samsung J2 smart phones. He told the jail staff that he had come to serve the summons to Nasir.
A constable from Bengaluru was held for allegedly trying to help a terror operative. The constable Dinesh was smuggling in two smart phones when he was caught red handed.
He was smuggling in the cell phones for T Nasir, the prime accused in the Bengaluru serial blasts case. The incident took place at the Central Jail at Parapana Agrahara in Bengaluru.

The constable, Dinesh was part of the city's armed reserve force. The jail authorities have registered a case against him under Section 424 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 42 of the Prisons Act.
T Nasir, an accused in the 2008 serial bomb blasts case in the city, has been lodged in jail for several years now. Hearing in the case is in progress in a court, and a warrant relating to the case was to be delivered to Nasir on Thursday. It is alleged that Dinesh had gone to the jail to serve the warrant, but tried smuggling in the cell phone instead.
In the warrant cover, he got two Samsung J2 smart phones. He told the jail staff that he had come to serve the summons to Nasir.
The staff grew suspicious by the nervousness displayed by Dinesh. They then checked the warrant cover and found two phones concealed in there. The chief jail superintendent was told about the incident. The constable was taken into custody and two cellphones were seized. The arrested man was handed over to Parappana Agrahara police station staff.
Dinesh reportedly told the prison authorities and investigating officials that he was told to hand over the mobile phones to Nasir by someone, and Rs 5,000 was offered to him as reward for this work. He says he does not know the persons who entrusted him this task. A police officer said that the cellphones did not have SIM cards inside them.
